Teams from all three companies gathered at the newly designated Teesport location to mark the commencement of operations, overseeing the loading of the first shipment of bricks that arrived into the port, underscoring all parties’ commitment to safety and reliability.
Gavin Fraser, Contract Manager at PD Ports, said: “We’re pleased to welcome Wienerberger and Construct IT to Teesport and look forward to building on our already successful relationship.
“Teesport is perfectly placed for any business looking to bring goods and materials into the UK for efficient and secure onward distribution around the country.”
The bricks, produced at Wienerberger’s factories in Europe and shipped to Teesport, are offloaded at the port and then transported onwards by Construct IT’s versatile fleet of vehicles, locally based in Middlesbrough & Chester Le Street.
Michael Clews, Logistics Operations Manager, commented:
"Operations from Teesport will be vital for our service offering to our customers for 2024 and beyond. The location of the port and its access to major local roads such as the A19, A66 and A1/A1M will reduce journey times on our imported products to the more northern parts of the United Kingdom. Not only will this mean a better service for our customers, but it will also reduce CO2 emissions as Construct IT can now be even more efficient with their operations on their dedicated fleet of vehicles.
Using Construct IT to commence operations at Teesport, builds on their excellent work at our Sandown Factory.
Adding to our excellent relationship, this was the opportunity to bring the highest standards of Health and Safety and collaboration to Teesport ensuring best practice is always implemented without question. Our first load was a fixed dated delivery that arrived in Glasgow early AM ready for the site opening, which resulted in a highly satisfied customer.
I would like to extend our thanks to Gavin Fraser of PD Ports for his efforts making the first delivery of Wienerberger product possible and we look forward to a successful partnership with PD Ports and Construct IT."
Amarat Gill, Operations Director at Construct IT said:
“We are pleased to support Wienerberger with our haulage services from this new depot in Middlesbrough. Our main focus is ensuring we provide a safe and reliable service at all times, through our dedicated fleet of vehicles.
At Construct IT, we take Health and Safety very seriously and are proud of the ongoing collaborative work we complete with Wienerberger’s team, to ensure our equally high standards are maintained. Being on site, to observe the loading of the first delivery and understanding the site rules and processes, was highly beneficial, to ensure the success of this operation moving forward."
Amarat added:
"All of the team at Construct IT would like to extend our thanks to PD Ports and Wienerberger for their support to ensure the first day of deliveries went well, and we look forward to working together."
