Commercial Director Craig Thirkell explains how BJS was the ‘silver lining’ to their COVID delivery issues ‘cloud’:

‘We were already seeing significant growth as we evolved our business model to serve the online consumer. As the pandemic hit and retailers closed the doors on their stores, we knew the way to support our partners was to focus on supporting their on-line sales and drop-shipping directly from our own warehouse . We onboarded with a delivery partner pre-pandemic, who had a great reputation and came with a good ‘pedigree’, but as consumer shopping online exploded, demand for our products soared in the run up to Christmas, and our delivery partner struggled to keep up and meet customer expectations for a quick delivery.

Some customers reported missing boxes and we had long delays between complete orders being delivered – for X Rocker this was just unacceptable. Our reputation is everything and we were just not prepared to let customers down. It was upsetting to see and hear the complaints from customers through comments posted online, not about the awesome products we sell, but about the performance of our delivery partner. It was impacting us, not them.

That needed to change as a matter of urgency, so we reached out for quotes and ultimately selected BJS. We did so knowing they were not the cheapest but had great industry feedback and enviable customer relationships. They took over from May and we haven’t looked back.

From an operations point of view BJS made the transition to a new delivery partner very easy and once over the start line we found accessing the portal simple, integration via API straightforward and managing and resolving queries easy – and the fact they contact our customers directly to arrange a booking slot has had a hugely positive impact on first time delivery success and delighting the customer with a really professional service to the door. We have no doubt this has helped us improve our online credentials and trust ratings.
